From a one-man operation to a group of companies all across Europe
Ever wondered where the name "horizont" actually came from?
Every pilot knows it: the artificial horizon in the aircraft cockpit. Electrical engineer Dr Heinz Müller was part of the development team of the now technical standard. When Dr Müller later sought a new field of activity and founded his own company in 1945, he named it "horizont" in memory of this invention.

1945
Foundation of the "Dr Heinz Müller, Workshop for Electrical Engineering" in Heskem near Marburg (in his "cowbarn") on 7th of July by Dr Heinz Müller as sole proprietor.
1950
Invention of the storage capacitor circuit and start of own production of electric fence equipment using low-maintenance dry batteries for the first time.
1954 - 57
Development and production of the flash unit "COMBI" for cameras with sales all over the world up to Sydney.
1956
The development of the "Ultra-Automatic S" battery unit with a diecast housing creates one of the most successful products on the market.
1974
Dipl.-Ing. Robert Müller and his brother Dr. Rudolf Müller assume the leadership after their father passed away.
1975
horizont introduces the "Optima" traffic safety lights as the first battery-operated mass luminaire marking the end of paraffin luminaires!
1977
Foundation of "horizont signaltechnik" as a sales subsidiary for traffic safety products.
1988
Creation of "horizont agrartechnik" as a sales company for electric fence and agricultural technology products.
1992
Establishment of "horizont ROLOS" in Poland as a production facility for pasture fence accessories and as a sales company in Eastern Europe.
1993
Commissioning of a new high-bay warehouse for more than 3,600 pallet spaces in Korbach.
2001
By acquiring the company "KLEMMFIX", the "signaltechnik" division becomes a world market leader in the field of mobile traffic control technology.
2005
"horizont holding gmbh" now "horizont group gmbh" turns 60.
2006
"agrartechnik" and "KLEMMFIX" become the "Division Agrartechnik" and "Division Klemmfix" within the "horizont group gmbh".
2007
The companies HOTLINE ELECTRIC FENCING Ltd. (Great Britain), CLAIR d.o. (Slovenia) and ADIC (France) are integrated into the horizont group.
Beacon production begins with the company's own plastic blowing technology.
2009
Dipl.-Kfm. Steffen Müller is the third generation of managing partners to lead the company.
2011
"Gerätewerk" becomes "Division Gerätewerk" in the "horizont group gmbh" which today is called "Industrial Customer".
2015
70 years of horizont! This was celebrated with a gigantic "open day" that attracted numerous visitors!
2016
horizont introduces a new logo throughout the company. Subsidiaries in England bundle the activities.
At EuroTier horizont presents the new
SMART-fencing device series.
Renaming of the "Division Klemmfix" to Traffic Safety and "Division Agrartechnik" to Animal Care.
2017
Integration of Müller Verkehrstechnik GmbH to complete the portfolio with traffic signs and signage.
2019
horizont and UKAL Elevage (France) agree on a strategic cooperation.
2020
We celebrate our 75th anniversary! 75 years of quality, innovation and reliability.
